001. - voice

[ --clicks on to the screech of something inhuman howling its lungs out, and the muffled sounds of someone whose communicator has turned on inside a pocket in the middle of a fight. More screeching, the ring of metal, and several crashing noises until the monster's yowling is cut abruptly short with a horrible wet sound. ]

[ Silence. ]

[ And then, much clearer and so completely calm, some actual speech. ]

Nuadoria. I had not thought to see thee again.

Thou art changed.

I... It's not like anyone asked for this.

They don't deserve to die.

And the creatures do? They are also alive.

They're monsters. They're the ones that are attacking us.

[voice]

[identity profile] temerate.livejournal.com 2009-04-18 07:27 am (UTC)(link)
Perhaps they are dumb beasts. Perhaps they are incarnations of evil.

Perhaps they are as sentient as thee. I am also what is termed a monster.

Perhaps thou art as well, to someone or something here.

[he wavers between hanging up and finding out more -- but his curiosity always seems to get the better of him no matter how nervous this conversation is making him]

What do you mean... you're a monster?

[voice]

[identity profile] temerate.livejournal.com 2009-04-18 07:50 am (UTC)(link)
[ Calmer now like this is no big deal. ]

I am Mikura. This body requires consumption of human blood to function correctly.

[voice]

[Shit, this again? How does he keep finding them?]

... You're a vampire?

[voice] - better go and tell someone~

[identity profile] temerate.livejournal.com 2009-04-18 12:43 pm (UTC)(link)
That term refers to another specific type of creature, and not my kind.

[ Conceding. ]

But there are similarities.

It was a necessary evolution, no matter how distasteful. Power does not come without sacrifice.

[quietly panicked]

That doesn't make any sense.

[ 8))) ]

Does it not? Those I looked after were dying. With this evolution, I had power enough to change their fates.

Even a human child should know the world does not change unless thou hast the strength to force it.

Change their-- What did you do to them?

[voice]

[identity profile] temerate.livejournal.com 2009-04-19 06:47 pm (UTC)(link)
I killed those who would have killed them.

[voice]

[identity profile] cachaemic.livejournal.com 2009-04-19 07:02 pm (UTC)(link)
...

What made you save them?

[voice]

[identity profile] temerate.livejournal.com 2009-04-19 07:31 pm (UTC)(link)
To preserve balance is--was, my duty. Humans are not permitted to eradicate youkai. Youkai are not permitted to eradicate humans. The harmony of the city may not be disrupted.

[voice]

[identity profile] cachaemic.livejournal.com 2009-04-19 07:48 pm (UTC)(link)
[doesn't respond for a while, it's a lot to take in]

And if we started killing all of the monsters...?

[voice]

[identity profile] temerate.livejournal.com 2009-04-19 08:02 pm (UTC)(link)
[ Has nothing else to do. ]

At present time, there is not evidence enough to determine if these creatures are native inhabitants or foreign invaders to be repelled. Thee, and the other exiles, are indeed foreign, but the city has brought thee here for a purpose. The creatures may or may not be the same.

She has a strange sense of balance, this Nuadoria. I regret that she does not speak to me of her intentions.

If thy kind succeeded in turning the tide, it would not be my place to intervene. But if thou art overwhelmed, then I shall have to step in. I owe a debt to one of thee.

[voice]

[identity profile] cachaemic.livejournal.com 2009-04-19 09:05 pm (UTC)(link)
[... That logic kind of makes sense. Maybe he's not that bad. At least he's not eating people]

You will?

[voice]

[identity profile] temerate.livejournal.com 2009-04-20 03:41 am (UTC)(link)
[ DASHES GANTA'S HOPES. ]

I would have little other choice. A sustainable human population is necessary.

[voice]

[identity profile] cachaemic.livejournal.com 2009-04-20 06:37 am (UTC)(link)
[why does he even bother building them up]

Of course you feel that way.
